Collaboration and the exchange of knowledge is vital for sustainability-oriented innovation, and recognised by the UN Sustainable Development Goal 17 as essential for the diffusion of environmentally sound technologies. Our collaborative team includes scientists, concerned destinations, wildlife NGOs, accreditation and responsible accommodation providers. We are working together in order to pursue this project’s aim of applying a service innovation to explore effective ways to stimulate behaviour change, save resources, reduce carbon emissions and increase visitor benefits. The research findings will be shared to aid North-South access to knowledge and technology. The ICRT are partners of SCP 10 YFP and will share results with the UNWTO/UNEP sustainable tourism programme.
